Clint, Asa and Taylor have been working for three weeks on the “final project list” – mostly interior finishes and systems work.
Clint fitted the leaded glass windows for the dovetail cabinets in the salon.

Clint cut a hole in the salon roof and installed the chimney for the refleks diesel stove – this is going to be HUGE for comfort this season in SE Alaska and in the shoulder seasons in the PNW. There is a copper surround that will still be installed. He also built the custom oak top for the chest of drawers built by my grandfather. The custom top fits the irregular shape of the hull and bulkhead. Also pictured is the teak panel on the aft bulkhead.

Asa fabricated a copper radiator tube to connect to the hydronic heating system to heat the head. It will run the perimeter of the copper shower basin. He also built a teak shower inset that will prevent accidental burns from the radiant tube (180 degrees) and allow showers above the standing water in the drain pan.

Asa fabricated a folding hatch to close off the space between the wheelhouse and fo’c’sle. I have been using a temporary single piece that lifts in and out of the space. this is a huge improvement in functionality and appearance! The top will be richlite to match the dash and the underside varnished teak. He also installed a bronze fiddle on the front for continuity with the rest of the dash!

This guy has some ‘mad’ skills. I really like that he can do (it appears to me) anything needed out of wood but also metal – and to such a great standard.
I wonder how much chain and rope you are carrying in the chain locker?
BTW: Can you link the photos to the originals so people can click on the photo and get the full, and presumably larger, size (a closer look)? It can be done when you edit the post.
Peter,
250′ of chain and 150′ of rope rode.
I have gone to uploading smaller images as the blog has gotten huge. You are the only person that has asked to see original photos – let me know any that you would like full size and i will email them to you.
